Michael Hearne is probably the most popular and influential musician in the northern New Mexico music scene. He is the leader of the well-known band South by Southwest and hosts his own music festival every September, Michael Hearne's Big Barn Dance Weekend, held in Taos. He has released numerous CDs under the South by Southwest name as well as several solo projects.
